ICOF Adult  Skill Training and Development  Programs:

 

Adult Basic Education
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program is designed to assist adults who wish to improve their basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.  Emphasis is directed toward raising the education level of adults.  All materials have been especially prepared for adults.

Harvard High School Diploma
The Harvard High School Diploma (HHSD) Program is designed so that adults may complete the requirements for an Adult High School Diploma.  Skills to improve verbal and written communications, science, and social studies are emphasized as well as a variety of electives are available to allow students to earn units and graduate.

Restore-a-ability  Education Development
The Restore-a-ability Education Development (RED) Program is designed to assist adults with mental retardation to become more independent and self-directing and to acquire skills to meet and manage community, social work and personal adult responsibilities.

English as A Second Language
The English as A Second Language (ESL) Program is provided to persons who have limited English proficiency.  Conversational English will be stressed as well as vocabulary, spelling and reading development.  In addition, instruction in citizenship will be provided for those adults wishing to seek US citizenship.

Harvard Alternative General Education Development
The General Education Development (HAGED) Program is available to students who have not completed high school and want to earn an equivalent high school diploma.  This equivalent is generally accepted on a basis equal to a high school diploma for employment, promotion, or further education.

Family Literacy Program
The Family Literacy Program ( FLP )encompasses the ways parents, children, and extended family members use literacy at home, at work, at school, and in their community life.  Family Literacy classes provide interactive literacy activities between parents an their children; provide training for parents regarding how to be the primary teacher for their children and full partners in the education of their children; provide parent literacy training that leads to economic self-sufficiency; and provides an age-appropriate education to prepare children for success in school and life experiences.Human

Employment Resource Development (ERD)

ERD provides skills assessment, employability skills training and career development activities to adults who are unemployed, underemployed or dislocated workers.  It offers a variety of short-term classes designed to equip students with the knowledge, values and skills essential toward successfully applying for a job, keeping a job or advancing on a job in a global economy.  Classes may range from 12-115 hours during a period from one to six weeks.  Both individualized and traditional instructional methods are utilized.  

ICOF New Business Development Program The ICOF Business Program is designed to meet the training needs of small business owners and other personnel, as well as entrepreneurial training to start a small business.  Training sessions are offered as seminars, workshops, and short term courses. The Small Business Program also offers confidential business counseling at no charge and has resource accessibility to publications, audio tapes, computer software, and videos to help with small business research and problem solving.   Core Curriculum:  The New Business Owner

IBDP will offer its “Business Development Program” at least three times per fiscal year.  This series of seminars includes the basic skills required to start and operate a successful business and consists of the following topics:

How to get Financing for Your Small Business
