ICOF WORK STUDY PROGRAM
PROGRAM: Work-Study is a part-time employment program for U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are at least half-time students and demonstrate financial need. The maximum amount a student can earn under this program is determined by financial need.
A variety of jobs are offered through the Work-Study Program, both at on-campus and a limited number of off-campus work sites.
Work-study earnings vary. The maximum award is $1,500 for the academic year ($1000 for freshmen and transfer students).
Benefits of Work-Study
The following are some of the benefits of the Work-Study Program:
Pay for educational expenses without incurring loan indebtedness.
Potentially increase future financial need. Work-Study earnings are not used in calculating your student contribution while non-Work-Study earnings are used in this calculation. However, Work-Study earnings are taxable income and will appear on your W-2 Form and must be used as part of your adjusted gross income for federal and state tax purposes.
Gain valuable experience through working with professionals who can serve as role models.
Develop a greater understanding of personal skills, talents, interests and limitations.

Eligibility Requirements
Student must register for at least one semester hour at ICOF.
Rate of Pay ICOF minimum wage changed from $5.15 to $6.20 on April 1, 2007 and will change from $6.20 to $7.25 on January 1, 2008. The hourly pay ranges from $6.20 to $27.00 and the average hourly rate is $8.30. Wage rates are established by the employer and are based on job responsibilities.
Work Schedule
During the academic year, students are restricted to a maximum of 20 hours per week based on State law. (Exception: Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break students may work up to 40 hours per week.) During the summer, students may work up to 40 hours per week.
